10 Standard Rules

The Community

  • Who is The Alumni? We are a fully autonomous, Canadian-based Sobriety Support group.

  • What does "Alumni” refers to? The vast majority of us share a common experience: having received treatment for addiction at Heritage or Searidge facilities in the past.

  • Why is the Alumni Community so unique? While we come from diverse backgrounds and circumstances, we share common goals and challenges. Our group is a non-judgmental safe space where everyone is met with understanding and peer support—no matter what.

  • Is The Alumni affiliated with the treatment centers? No, while we remain deeply grateful for the treatment and services we received in the past, we highly value our autonomy and independence. We are self-governed, and we conduct our affairs with the utmost respect for the anonymity of our participants.

  • What if I never went to Heritage or Searidge, can I attend your meetings? Absolutely! We hold multiple public meetings each week. One of our core principles is to support anyone and everyone seeking sobriety and recovery. Consult our Public Calendar to find the next open meeting.

Meeting Rules

Our facilitators are here to ensure that our rooms remain a safe and supportive space for everyone. While we deeply care about each participant's well-being, our role does not extend to getting involved in personal matters outside the group.

This is a great opportunity to reaffirm that any outside conflicts should stay outside, so our shared rooms remains a Safe Space for healing, growth, and support. Your safety and comfort here will always be our top priority.

You can download a copy of The 10 Standard Rules that we prioritize in The Alumni.

*Ultimately, each facilitator remains sovereign in the way they choose to handle their meeting.
